Who is young european swiss | yes?yes is the youth organisation of the New European Movement Switzerland (in French). yes is unaffiliated to political parties and issue-focused, counts about 1'000 members and promotes an active role of Switzerland in Europe. yes consists of a national board with a secretary-general as well as six regional groups in the German- as well as French-speaking parts of Switzerland. Through educational projects, panel debates and campaigns, yes sensitises young Swiss for the EU-Swiss relations. yes demands full EU membership of Switzerland in order to have a real voice in Europe and we therefore urge the Swiss government and parliament to pursue an open and sustainable European policy!
yes stands for* An honest and pragmatic debate on Europeyes is convinced that our country needs an honest and pragmatic debate on Europe. European integration is a reality - we need to face it! Only if we discuss openly and unprepossessedly about chances and challenges for Switzerland in Europe, will we be able to use our potential best. It is vital to the young Swiss generation that relations with our European neighbours remain sound. Therefore, it is imperative that Switzerland's policy towards Europe is guided by confidence, openness and providence!
* A self-confident and sustainable protection of our interestsyes promotes a self-confident Swiss policy on European affairs which protects our interests sustainably. In the age of globalisation, sovereignty means "being at the table". Physical borders lose their significance, the process of European integration as reached the alpine fortress a long time ago. Today, Switzerland adopts EU legislation "autonomously" - yes wishes that Switzerland regains its lost sovereignty by becoming a full EU member. yes calls for Switzerland to exercise its voice where decisions and legislation which concern Switzerland are taken - and this is inside the European Union. Because we deserve to influence our future "autonomously"!
* An open and forward-looking Swiss policy on European affairsyes is certain that the development of Europe is crucial for the future prosperity of the young generation of our country. Only if border-crossing exchange remains possible, Europe (and in its very centre, Switzerland) will be able to remain successful in an increasingly globalised and interdependent world. Nonetheless, Swiss people should not count on the idea that Europe develops itself in favourable direction without the active engagement of our country. Proto-helvetic values such as federalism and subsidiarity are key shall Europe keep its relevance in the future. For that reason, yes asks for an open and forward-looking Swiss policy on European affairs which is centred on active Swiss participation - following the lead of yes within JEF!
